Day eleven "Like a colony of ants"

Day by day our desire to go to the Community kitchen is increasing. After waking up every morning to do many of the things that we talked about in the previous days, a new revival has come to all of us. Days pass. Meanwhile, the kitchen units that we have worked hard to build on the premises of our Little Hope Centre are being renewed.

There are people of the same age in our group. As usual, girls and boys alike finished cleaning the centre and started work remembering their religion. As the class is graded, we take turns participating there.

So young girls and boys started to join in the cooking. The older girls washed the rice and started working in the kitchen. Two or three boys started to light the stove in the shed where the stove is outside. So the rice was washed and put on the stove to cook.

This group got together and started working with speed and efficiency like a colony of ants. One person washed lentils, and one person ground coconuts. Another one cleaned the leaves. It works fine. It's like a swarm of ants has descended on the kitchen.

I must say about my grandmother who often comes to work with us. She often comes and helps us cook. Works well with us. With the little ones, she's great. We feel like a family now.

Teacher Kasturi came very little in the kitchen today. The teacher told us what to cook. Helped to buy the necessary items. After that, she worked in the garden with the boys. We started cooking together with four or five girls.

We cooked lentils today. Banana flowers and sprats were also made into a fry. Also a moringa leaf salad. Then we got together and opened the food on the table. Others were served as much as they wanted to eat.

Kasturi Teach also works really hard for us, she is with us every day. Because of her, we learn new things every day. So we served her the plate separately and gave it to the teacher today. Usually, she is the one who serves us.

I must also say about the work in the garden. We are not lazy to work. Girls and boys were divided into separate groups and we talked about how to do gardening. What to plant? Then we asked Kasturi teacher about some things.

"Teacher, what is the soil like on this earth? What are the good crops to grow on this earth? What are the good crops to bear fruit? How long will it take?..."

Many questions for the teacher. It’s good that we think about everything. You need to learn about things you don't know. The teacher will help us with that. The teacher said.

"Things like radishes, they grow well. They are quick to bear fruit."

So we asked...

"And teacher, whether it is possible to grow things like carrots, leeks..."

She really likes this work. We need to value her hard work. We have to think about this ourselves.

"Look, teacher, in two or three days, we will make a different place here. We will make a beautiful garden for the teacher. That is our promise.....we can do it..."

We didn't just say that. Got down to work with the group. We started working today with a lot of enthusiasm and new hopes. Different dreams about the garden began to grow in our hearts. How to make this day by day. How plants grow. How we water them. It's a wonderful world how everyone maintains this together...

We will quickly plant those dreams in this land. Today is a very exciting day for us...!

ප්‍රජා මුලුතැන්ගෙය - 10 වැනි දවස

2022- ජූලි මස 15 වැනි සිකුරාදා..

දවසින් දවස මධ්‍යස්ථානය වෙත යෑමේ උවමනාව අපිට වැඩිවෙනවා. කලින් දවස්වල කතා කළ ගොඩක් දේවල් අපිට කරන්න හැම උදෑසනකම අවදි වුණාට පස්සේ අලුත්ම ප්‍රබෝදයක් අපි හැමෝටම ඇවිල්ලා. දවස් ගතවෙනවා. ඒ අස්සේ අපේ පුංචි පුංචි බලාපොරොත්තු මධ්‍යාස්ථාන පරිශ්‍රයේ අපිම මහන්සිවෙලා හදාගත්ත මුලුතැන්ගේ ඒකක අලුත් වෙනවා.

 අදත් අපි හැමෝම උදේ 9.00 වෙද්දී එකා දෙන්නා මධ්‍යස්ථාන වෙත එන්න ගත්තා.

අපේ කණ්ඩායමේ එක වයසේ අය ඉන්නවා.  කෝලලෝ කෙල්ලෝ හැමදාම වගේම අදත් මධ්‍යස්ථානය පිරිසිදු කරලා ඉවරවෙලා, ආගම සිහිකරලා වැඩ පටන් ගත්තා. පංතියත් ශ්‍රේණි විදියටනේ යන්නේ. ඉතිං එතනට මාරුවෙන් මාරුවටයි අපි සහභාගී වෙන්නේ.

ඉතිං තරුණ කෙල්ලෝ කෝල්ලෝ ටික උයන වැඩේට එකතුවෙන්න ගත්තා. ලොකු කෙල්ලෝ ටික හාල් එහෙම හෝදලා කුස්සියේ වැඩ පටන් ගත්තා. කොල්ලෝ දෙතුන් දෙනෙක් එළියේ ලිප තියෙන මඩුවේ ලිප පත්තු කරන්න ගත්තා. ඉතිං හාල් හෝදලා ලිපේ තියෙලා බත් එක ඉදෙන්න තිව්වා.

මේ කණ්ඩායම එකතු වෙලා ලහි ලහියේ වැඩ බෙදාගෙන කරන්න ගත්තේ කඩියෝ ටිකක් වගේ.

එක්කෙනෙක් පරිප්පු හෝදනවා, එක්කෙනෙක් පොල් ගාණවා. තවත් කෙනෙක් පලා සුද්ද කරනවා. හරි හරිට වැඩ ඉතිං. කුස්සියෙම කූඹි රැලක් බැහැලා වගේ.

අපිත් එක්ක නිතර වැඩවලට එන අච්චිඅම්මා ගැන නම් කියන්නම ඕනි. එයා ගොඩක් වෙලාවට එනවා ඇවිල්ලා අපිට උයන්න උදව් කරනවා. අපිත් එක්ක හරි හරියට වැඩ කරනවා. පොඩි අය එක්ක, එයා හරි එකතුයි. අපි දැන් එක පවුලක් වගේ කියලා අපිට දැනෙනවා. 

කස්තුරි ටීචර් නම් අද කුස්සිය පැත්තේ ආවේ හරිම අඩුවෙන්. ටීචර් අපිට කිව්වා උයන්න ඕනි දේවල්. අවශ්‍යය බඩු ටිකත් ගන්න උදව් කළා. කරලා එයා පිරිමි ළමයි එක්ක ගෙවත්තේ වැඩ කරා. අපි කෙල්ලෝ හතර පස් දෙනෙක් එක්ක එකතු වෙලා උයන්න ගත්තා.

අපි අද පරිප්පු ඉව්වා. කෙසෙල්මුව හාල්මැස්සෝ දලා බැලුමකුත් හැදුවා. තව මුරුංගා කොළ මැලුමකුත් හැතුවා. කැකුලු බත් ඉව්වා. එතකොට අපිම එකතු වෙලා කෑම එක මේසෙටත් ඇරියා. අනිත් අයට කන්න ඕනි විදියට බෙදලත් දුන්නා. 

කස්තුරි ටීචත් හරියට මහන්සිවෙනවා අපි වෙනුවෙන්, දවසෙම එයා අපි එක්ක ඔට්ටුවෙනවා. එයා නිසා අපි දවසගානේ දේවල් ඉගෙන ගන්නවා. ඉතිං අපි අද ටීචර්ට කෑම එක වෙනමම බෙදලා ගිහින් දුන්නා. වෙනදා එයා තමයි අපිටත් බෙදලා දෙන්නේ.

ගෙවත්තේ වැඩ ගැනත් කියන්නම ඕනි. අපි වැඩ කරන්න කම්මැලි නෑ. කෙල්ලෝ කොල්ලෝ වෙන වෙනම කණ්ඩායම්වලට බෙදිලා, ගෙවතු වගාව කරන්න ඕනි විදිය ගැන අපි අපිම කතා කර ගත්තා. හිටවන්න ඕනි මොනවද? එතකොට සමහර දේවල් ගැන අපි කස්තුරි ටීචර්ගෙනුත් ඇහුවා. 

"ටිචර් මේ පොළොවේ පස මොන වගේද? මේ පොළොවේ මොනවද වවන්න හොඳ? ඵලදාවක් ගන්න හොඳ බෝග වර්ග මොනවද? ඒවට කොච්චර කල් යනවද?..."

ටීචර්ට ප්‍රශ්න ගොඩයි. අපි හැමදේම ගැන හිතන එක හොඳයි. දන්නේ නැති දේවල් ගැන දැන ගන්න ඕනි. ටීචර් ඒවට අපිට උදව් කරනවා.ටීචර් කිව්වා.

"රාබු වගේ ඒව නම් හොඳට වැවෙනවා.ඉක්මනින්ම ඵලදාව ගන්නත් පුළුනන්."

ඉතිං අපි ඇහුවා. "එතකොට ටීචර්, කැරට්, ලීක්ස් වගේ දේවලුත් වවන්න පුළුවන්ද කියලා..."

ටීචර් නම් වැඩේට ගොඩක්ම කැමතියි. එයා වෙන මහන්සියට අපි වටිනාකමක් දෙන්න ඕනි. අපි අපිම මේ ගැන හිතන්න ඕනි.

" ඔන්න බලන්න ටීචර් තව දවස් දෙක තුනක් ඇතුලත අපි මෙතන වෙනස් තැනක් කරනවා. අපි ලස්සන ගෙවත්තක් හදලා දෙනවා ටීචර්ට. ඒක අපි දෙන පොරොන්දුවක්.....අපිට පුළුවන් ඒක කරන්න..."

අපි එහෙම කියලා නිකන් හිටියේ නෑ. කට්ටිය එක්කම බැස්සා වැඩේට. අපි අද හරි උද්යෝගයෙන් අලුත් බලාපොරොත්තු ගොන්නක් එක්ක වැඩ කරන්න ගත්තා. ගෙවත්ත ගැන එක එක පාට  සිහින අපේ හිත් ඇතුලේ පැලපදියම් වෙන්න ගත්තා. මේක දවසින් දවස හදන හැටි. පැල ලොකු වෙන හැටි. අපි ඒවට වතුර දාන හැටි. හැමෝම එකතුවෙලා මේක නඩත්තු කරන හැටි ඒක හරි අපූරු ලෝකයක්...

අපි ඉක්මනින් ඒ සිහින මේ භූමියේ පැලකරනවා. අද අපිට හරිම උද්යෝගිමත් දවසක්....!
