Today, the community kitchen was operational again after a one-day hiatus. The weather was not so good today. A windy day. It was a day when many people stayed indoors. In this kind of weather, the gardeners don't think that we will cook food inside the centre. But we were not worried about the weather. Despite the bad weather, boys and girls started coming one by one. The first thing we did was to collect firewood for the kitchen. Everyone joined together and chopped wood.
The request of the team today was for soy devil, leaf salad mallum, papadam, and vegetable curry. There was a group of 32 for lunch today. Many people in need of food are in their homes. It is a big challenge for us. In many homes, children are the ones who do the housework. They have to bear many responsibilities within the family. This is another question we need to find answers to.
Somehow, the class started today. English was taught today. Today something special happened. A child who never eats anything outside the house, not even eating Pongal in a temple, came today and started cooking and helping to eat. That is a matter of happiness for all of us. We all congratulated him. Children are changing one by one. Learning to work together.
It is also a big challenge to provide food to the children in the villages and to make them come to the community kitchen and learning centre. Among these people, there is often little exchange of knowledge about the outside society. Almost no access to education. Many people are looking to create another working class from them. Their learning is not important to anyone else. Parents have no understanding about it. In such a situation, a few children with hope are slowly drawn to the centres.
Today, these youth who came like that shared the olives they brought with everyone and ate. Played. Did their lessons. Cooked and ate. So the community kitchen has a big task in front to take this new hope and change that they feel back to their community.
ප්‍රජා මුලුතැන්ගෙය - පස්වන දවස

අද ප්‍රජා මුලුතැන්ගෙය දවසක විරමයකින් පස්සේ නැවතත් ක්‍රියාත්මක වුණා. අද කාලගුණය එතරම් යහපත් වුණේ නම් නෑ. සුළඟ තදින්ම හමන දවසක්. ගොඩක් අය ගෙවල් ඇතුලටම වෙලා හිටපු දවසක්. මේ වගේ කාලගුණයක වත්තේ අය හිතන්නේ නෑ, අපි මධ්‍යස්ථානය ඇතුළේ කෑම උයයි කියලා. හැබැයි අපි කාලගුණේ ගැන හිත හිත හිටියේ නම් නෑ. අයහපත් කාලගුණ ඇතුලෙත් කොල්ලෝ කෙල්ලෝ ටික එකා දෙන්නා එන්න ගත්තා. අපි මුලින්ම කළේ කුස්සියට ඕනි දර එකතු කරපු එක. ඒකට හැමෝම එකතු වෙලා දර කැඩුවා.
අද කණ්ඩායමේ ඉල්ලීම තිබුණේ සෝයා ඩෙවල්, කොළ මැල්ලුම්, පපඩම් වලට, කිරි එළවලු අද ඕ. අද කෑමට 32 කණ්ඩායමක් හිටියා. කන්න ඕනි ගොඩක් අය ගෙවල්වල. අපිට ඒක ලොකු අභියෝගයක්. ගොඩක් ගෙවල්වල දරුවෝ තමයි ගෙදර වැඩ කරන්නේ.ඔවුන්ට වගකීම් රැසක් පවුල ඇතුලේ දරන්න වෙලා තියෙනවා. මේ අපි උත්තර හොයන්න ඕනි තවත් ප්‍රශ්නයක්.
කොහොමහරි අද පංතියත් පටන් ගත්තා. අද ඉංග්‍රීසි විෂය තමයි ඉගැන්නුවේ. අද එක විශේෂ සිද්ධියක් වුණා. කවදාවත් ගෙදරින් පිට දෙයක් කන්නේ නැති, අඩුම කෝවිලේ පොංගල්වත් කන්නේ නැති දරුවෙක් අද වැඩේට ඇවිල්ලා කෑම උයන්නත් උදව් වෙලා කෑම කන්නත් ගත්තා. ඒක නම් අපි හැමෝටම සතුටට කාරණයක්. එයාට අපි හැමෝම ප්‍රසංසා කළා. දරුවෝ එක එක්කෙනා වෙනස් වෙමින් තියෙනවා. සාමූහිකව වැඩකරන්න ඉගෙන ගනිමින් තියෙනවා.
ගම්මාන ඇතුලේ ඉන්න දරුවන්ට කෑම දෙන්න වගේම එයාලට ඉගෙන ගන්න මධ්‍යස්ථාන භුමියට පැමිණෙන් අවස්ථාව හදන එකත් ලොකු අභියෝගයක්. මේ පිරිස් අතර බොහෝ වෙලාවට එළියේ සමාජය පිළිබඳ දැනුම හුවමාරුව අඩුයි. අධ්‍යාපනය සඳහා ප්‍රවේශ නැති තරම්. ගොඩක් අය බලන්නේ මෙයාලගෙන් තවත් කම්කරු පංතියක් බිහිකරගන්නයි. එයාලා ඉගෙන ගන්න එක වෙන කාටවත් වැදගත් නෑ. දෙමාපියන්ට ඒ ගැන කිසිම අවබෝධයකුත් නෑ. ඒවගේ තත්ත්වයක් ඇතුලේ බලාපොරොත්තු එක්ක දරුවෝ එකා දෙන්ක මධ්‍යස්ථාන භුමියට ඇදෙමින් තියෙනවා.
අද එහෙම ආපු මේ පිරිස් එයාලම ගෙනාපු වෙරලු හැමෝම එක්ක බෙදාගෙන කෑවා. සෙල්ලම් කළා. ඉගෙන ගත්තා. කෑම උයාගෙන කෑවා. ඉතිං ප්‍රජාව ඇතුළෙම එයාලට දැනෙන මේ අලුත් වෙනස තව තව එයාලගේ පිරිස්වෙත අරගෙන යන්න ප්‍රජාමුලුතැන්ගෙට කරන්න ගොඩක් දේවල් තියෙනවා.
