We are not alone...

“I will do what I can to build a fund for this project”

Today, we are going to tell you about another kind-hearted person who joined us in community empowerment.

By name, she is Dinesha Kankanamage.

From the beginning of the Ceylon youth movement, she was with us for community empowerment and later she migrated to Europe for her higher education.

While she is living in Scotland, she always felt sorrowful about what Sri Lankan people are faced with in the day-by-day declining economy.

When she saw our first post on Facebook introducing the community kitchen project, she was there lending a supportive hand.

“I am only been here for a little time. I had my first childbirth recently. I don't have much money because I am not doing a job. But I feel, I should do something for those little children. I am also a mother and I feel their pain. Actually, I feel that we had to leave the country at the wrong time. This is the time we should be there. I feel that it is very painful when we can't do anything about these problems. I am donating as much money as I can. But I will do what I can to build a fund for this”
Those are Dineshas’ words to our team when she sends one of our first donations to build the community kitchen.  

Dinesha gave us a good start to making this community kitchen a reality, not only with financial support but with much-needed courage and motivation for us to keep going. 
A week after her first call she talked to us again.

“I wish to make a proposal. I have conducted preparation sessions for the IELTS exam prior to leaving Sri Lanka. These classes are much needed in Sri Lanka nowadays for the youth who are dreaming to get out of the country. But they cost a higher Amount of money to complete private courses. I can do these classes between 10000-15000 rupees. Teach the basics and make them do a great job in exams on their own. Actually, I will do this to create a fund for the community kitchen. If you agree, I give you 50% shares from this to the community kitchen kirilipana.”

That was her proposal. And again, she called us yesterday and told us she will start the classes today.
We must talk about her efforts as a Sri Lankan across the coast who has not given up on the hope to give back to the youth of this country and do as much as she could in this crisis time.

"මං ඉස්සරහට මේ වෙනුවෙන් ෆන්ඩ් එකක් හදන්න මට පුළුවන් දේ කරනවා…."

ප්‍රජා බලගැන්වීම් සඳහා එකතු වූ ප්‍රජාවේ තවත් එක් සමසිතැත්තියක් ගැන අද අපි ඔබට කියනවා. ඇය දිනේෂා කම්කානම්ගේ ය. තරුණ ව්‍යාපාරය ආරම්භක කරනු ලැබූ කාල සීමාවේ සිටම සාමූහිත ප්‍රයන්නයන් ගැන කතා බහ කළ ඇය මෑත කාලයකදී ඇයගේ උසස් අධ්‍යාපනික කටයුතු සඳහා විදෙස් ගතවෙනවා.

දවසින් දවස අර්බුදවලට මුහුණ දෙන ලංකාව ගැන ඇය ස්කොට්ලන්තයේ සිට සෑම විටම කණගාටු වූවාය. ප්‍රජාමුලුතැන්ගේ පිළිබඳව අපි පලකළ පළමු fb post එක දු⁣ටු සැනින් ඇය අප වෙත ඇගේ සහයෝගය පලකලා ය.

" මම මෙහෙට ඇවිල්ලා ටික කාලයයි. මගේ දරුවා ලැබුණෙත් ලඟ දී. තාම රැකියාවක් කරන්නේ නැති නිසා, ලොකු මුදලක් නෑ. ඒත් එහෙමයි කියලා මේ දරුවෝ වෙනුවෙන් මුකුත් නොකර ඉන්න බෑ කියලා දැනෙනවා. මමත් අම්මා කෙනෙක් දරුවන්ගේ දුක මට හොඳට දැනෙනවා. ඇත්තටම මට හිතෙනවා ලංකාවේ ඉන්නම ඕනි කාලේ අපි ආවද කියලත්.මෙහේ ඉදලන් ඒ ප්‍රශ්න දිහා බලලා මොනවත්කර ගන්න බැරි වුණාම හරි වේදනයි. මම දැන් අතේ වියදමට තියෙන මුදලින් දෙන්න පුළුවන් ගාණක් දානවා. ඒත් මං ඉස්සරහට මේ වෙනුවෙන් ෆන්ඩ් එකක් හදන්න මට පුළුවන් දේ කරනවා…."

එහෙම කියපු දිනේෂා. 8000/= මුදලක් මේ වෙනුවෙන් ලබා දෙනවා. ඒ මුදල තමයි ප්‍රජාමුලුතැන්ගේ පළමු මුල්‍ය පරිත්‍යාය. දිනේෂා ඔබේ හදවතේ එවෙනුවෙන් පැවති සිතුවිලිවලින් එලෙස ආරම්භ කළ මේ ප්‍රජා මූලික කාර්යය සාර්ථක කරන්න හොඳ ආරම්භයක් ලැබුණා.

ඒ වගේම දැනට සතියකට පමණ පෙර ඇය නැවත අපිට කතා කරනවා.

" මම කැමතියි මෙහෙම යෝජනාවක් කරන්න. ඉස්සර ඉදලම මම පොඩියට IELTS පංති කළා. මේ වගේ පංතියකට ලංකාවේ දැන් අවශ්‍යයතාවය වැඩියි. ඒවා ලොකු මුදලකුත් අය කරනවනේ. මට පුළුවන් 10000/= ත් 15000/= ත් අතර මුදලකට මේ පංතිය කරන්න. මුලික දේවල් උගන්නලා, මේ විභාගය ස්වයංව කරගෙන වැඩේ ගොඩදාගන්න තැනට කරන්න. ඇත්තටම මම මේක කරන්නේ community KITCHEN එකට අරමුදලක් හදන්න. ඔයාලා කැමති නම් මේ වැඩේට, මේකෙන් එන මුදල්වලින් 50% කොටසක් මම කිරිළිපන community KITCHEN එකේ ෆන්ඩ් එකට දෙනවා. "

ඒ ඇගේ යෝජනාවයි. ඇය ඊයේ දිනයේ අපිට කතා කරලා අද දින පංති අරම්භ කරන බව අපිට කිව්වා. මාතර පස්ගොඩ කිරිලිපන වතුගම්මානයේ දරුවන් වෙනුවෙන් වෙරළෙන් එහා ලංකාවේ ඇය මේ ප්‍රයන්නය දැරීම ගැන අපි කතා කළ යුතුමයි. ඉතිං මේ වැඩේ සාර්ථක විය යුතුයි. ඉදිරියේදී මේ පංතිය එක්ක එකතු වෙන්න කැමති ඕනෑම කෙනෙක්ට අපිට පුලුවන් ඇයව සම්බන්ධ කරලා දෙන්න.

ඇගේ උසස් අධ්‍යාපන කටයුතුත් කරන ගමන් තවමත් මාස කීපයක් වන ඇගේ කිරිකැටියාගේ වැඩත් කරමින්, සති අන්තයේ මෙවැනි වගකීම් සහගත පංතියක්කරන එක පහසු නොවන බව අපි දනිමු.

ඉතිං දිනේෂා! ඔබ ඔබේ මැදිහත්වීම රට වෙනුවෙන් කරන්නට අපි සමඟ එකතු වී සිටිනවා. ඔබ අපිට ශක්තියක්. එතරට වී ලංකාව ගැන දුක්වීම පමණක් නොකර මුදල් එවා නොනැවතුනු ඔබ ඒ වෙනුවෙන් වැඩකිරීමට අප සමඟ එකතුවීම පිළිබඳව සහ ඔබේ සාමූහික සිතුවිලිවලට ලඞකා තරුණ ව්‍යාපාරය ඔබ⁣ට හෘදයාන්ගම ස්තූතියි පුද කරනවා.
